It's fascinating to read Jethraw's completely different perspective. While I'm inclined to be more in line with your views however, I don't believe that every spaces should serve a specific function and should be productive.
I believe that leaves Burthorpe as a chaotic, crowded area. There's too many NPCs, skills and ideas, often where it is possible to blend multiple NPCs or areas into one. It also loses the atmosphere that made it so interesting.
In a way, Taverley was nice because it was peaceful, and that gave it the appearance of being an area where druids might be seen hanging out. Burthorpe felt compelled to defend that area. They clearly demonstrated the differences between the towns, and a change in momentum by displaying their forests.
It's not intended to describe agility shortcuts, but it's something that I can identify with. I meant artificial blocks were ridiculous. The long fences stretching around the desert are all that separates sand from grass. It doesn't make any sense and is absurd. The players of our society could all climb over the fence within just two steps.
If agility shortcuts were to be redefined so that they weren't linked to specific places but instead were specific actions (e.g. These boundaries would make it more logical when they were tied to specific actions, rather than to specific places (e.g. level 50: Learn how to climb any and every cliff, level 80: Learn to climb ice with two pickaxes).
